Visit to Children's Hospital to see Ruby

We went to see Ruby and her mom today and we were able to give them a cheque for $4200!  Thank you everyone for contributing and thank you Lee and Sam for having us. The Ride for Ruby was hard but worth it and being able to help Ruby was also awesome. She is feeling better and hopefully she will get to leave her isolation room soon!

Finished the Ride!

Today I finished the ride and before I left Royston my whole class rode the last 10 km with us. It was a great surprise, but that was not it. When we all got to ecole puntledge park school the whole class held a potluck. There was pizza, sushi, fruit kabob's, fruit platter, veggie platter, brownies, cookies, scones, cherry's, ice cream cake and so many more delicious foods! After school ended Molly, Caity, Maia Annalise and I did a little fundraiser at Thrifty's-thank you all the people that donated! Thank you Madame Mathews and Mr Reimer for organizing everything!

Riding for Ruby on the Island!

We are almost there! Thank you Annelies, Hugo and Molly for riding with me and Alex today. It made it easier. We went a long way today, but at least it was mostly flat and sunny.

Frieda and Lina

Today I met a little girl named Frida she's 5, super sweet, and drew me a nice picture. Frida has a little sister named Lina, she is 2 and has had cancer since she was six weeks old. It makes me sad to realize other kids like Ruby's are sick with Cancer. So i think its just so sad and i thought that i could do a fundraiser every year for kids with cancer!

Also thank you to all those generous people that donated towards Ruby at Blenz, Nester in whistler and Nesters in squamish.

On our way to Horseshoe Bay!

Yesterday we rode from Whistler to Squamish and it was hard! Line and Pierre came and rode the last little bit with us on the trails.  They showed us where to find good salmon berries. Thank you everyone from Squamish for your amazing support and the send off this morning. Thank you Frieda for the picture and telling me about your little sister Lina, and her struggle with Cancer.
Thank you Dan and Jan for having us for the night, and the amazing lasagna feast, and the hottub!

The Ride for RUBY has started!

Yesterday Alex, me and my dad rode from Pemberton through the mountains in the wind and rain to Whistler. We got to Nesters and they had hot apple cider for us. They were awesome. Thanks to everyone who donated yesterday! Thank you Nicky, Kim and Gord for letting us stay in your beautiful home in Whistler.

Ruby's Birthday!

I went to see Ruby in the hospital on her birthday. She is still in isolation so all of her presents and treats had to be washed before she could play with them.  I had to wear a gown to make sure we didn't bring in any germs so Ruby was protected, after her bone marrow transplant. It was a good visit!
I am hoping that i will get good weather for my bike ride and hope it stops raining.

Hi, my name is Ava Caldwell, I’m 10 years old and I live in Pemberton. One of my best friends, Ruby has Leukemia, again. I wanted to do something to help her and to show her I care and miss her. I’m planning on doing a bike ride from my house in Pemberton to Ruby’s house in Courtenay BC, on Vancouver Island. I’m hoping this will raise money to help Ruby and her family. I will be riding from Pemberton to Whistler on May 30^th.

This is the update on Ruby!
She just had a bone marrow transplant and she is doing ok she is in isolation. Ruby's  birthday is coming up on May 24 im hoping she will be out of  isolation by then and i can go and have a visit!

Helping my friend Ruby KICK Cancer

My name is Ava, I am 10 years old and my best friend Ruby has Leukemia, for the second time.  I would like to help her by doing a bike ride from my house in Pemberton BC to Ruby's house in  Courtenay BC.

Any support you could give Ruby and her family would be wonderful!

The total distance I will be biking will be 250 kilometers. Please sponsor me for each kilometer I ride! (for example 10 cents a kilometer is 25.00!!)
